Our Specialty
Ironbound Castings has a long history supplying 70/30 Copper Nickel (C96400) castings to the U.S. Navy, defense contractors, and commercial shipbuilders. Our controlled melting practices and no bake molding process are specifically suited to the demanding solidification behavior of Cu-Ni alloys — delivering the dense, sound castings required for pressure-boundary service in seawater systems.
Every casting is produced with full ASTM B369 and MIL-C-15726 chemistry and mechanical property certification. Heat numbers are traceable from melt through delivery. Our in-house machining, NDT, and hydrostatic testing capabilities allow complete qualification of finished castings without leaving the building.
Whether you need a single prototype or a production run of Navy-spec condenser heads, Ironbound Castings is your source for qualified 70/30 Cu-Ni castings.

Alloy & Standards
C96400 (70/30 Cu-Ni) — ASTM B369, MIL-C-15726, QQ-C-390 — Navy and marine documentation packages available
Key Advantages
Copper-nickel alloys require careful melt and molding practice. Our experienced foundrymen have poured Cu-Ni for Navy programs across generations.
70/30 Copper Nickel offers outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, biofouling, and erosion-corrosion — the alloy of choice for naval condensers, heat exchangers, and piping systems in salt water service.
Poured to MIL-C-15726 and ASTM B369 with full chemistry and mechanical certifications. Ironbound has supplied 70/30 Cu-Ni castings to the U.S. Navy and defense supply chain for decades.
All 70/30 Copper Nickel castings are produced using our no bake sand molding process, providing the tight dimensional tolerances, superior surface finish, and controlled solidification this alloy demands.
Pattern making, casting, heat treatment, machining, NDT, and hydrostatic testing under one roof — single-source delivery from drawing review through fully inspected, documented parts.
Alloy Selection
70/30 is our primary Cu-Ni grade for Navy and high-performance marine service. 90/10 is available for less demanding applications.
