Full-Service Aluminum Foundry
Ironbound Castings pours five aluminum alloy grades using both green sand and no bake molding. Our craftsmen produce fine-finish castings with consistent tolerances — from prototype quantities through full production runs. All heats are melted and poured in-house with full traceability.
A356 and 355 T6 heat treatment is performed on-site. Solution heat treat, quench, and artificial aging cycles are documented and certified with every order. Customers receive chemical analysis, mechanical test results, and certified test bars as standard — no additional charge.
Aluminum castings from Ironbound are supplied as-cast, rough machined, or finish machined — on a single purchase order with one point of contact from pattern to shipping.

Alloy Grades
Five grades covering general industrial, structural, pressure-tight, high-strength, and bearing applications.

A workhorse general-purpose aluminum casting alloy with excellent fluidity and good machinability. 319 is widely used for complex geometries, engine components, and industrial housings where moderate strength and ease of casting are the primary requirements.

Sand casting grade 355 offers a good combination of pressure tightness, moderate strength, and corrosion resistance. Often specified for hydraulic valve bodies and pump casings where leak-free walls are required. Available heat treated to T6 condition for improved mechanical properties.

A356 is one of the most widely poured aluminum casting alloys in the industry. Excellent castability, superior corrosion resistance, and very good mechanical properties in the T6 heat-treated condition make it the standard choice for structural, marine, and defense castings where consistent quality is essential.

Aluminum alloy 713 (also known as Tenzalloy) is a heat-treatable alloy delivering high strength without requiring solution heat treatment — simplifying processing while achieving tensile strengths above 35,000 PSI as-cast. It is particularly suited for castings that are difficult to heat treat due to complex geometry.

Aluminum alloy 850 is a tin-containing aluminum bearing alloy specifically developed for bushing and bearing applications. It combines aluminum's light weight with good bearing properties and moderate corrosion resistance, suitable for light-load bearing service where weight reduction is important.
Why Ironbound
We pour all five aluminum grades without subcontracting. 319, 355, A356, 713, and 850 are all melted and poured on-site using our induction furnaces — giving customers full traceability and consistent heat chemistry.
Both green sand and no bake molding are available for aluminum, enabling fine-finish castings from a few ounces to several hundred pounds with consistent tolerances throughout the production run.
A356-T6 and 355-T6 heat treatment is performed in-house. Solution heat treat, quench, and artificial aging are completed and documented on-site — no third-party heat treater, no schedule dependency.
Chemical analysis, mechanical test results, and certified test bars are furnished with every production order. Customer-specific documentation packages including MIL-SPEC and aerospace quality records are available on request.
